SCOTT PILGRIM!!!!

I have a confession, nay a proclamation, I love me some Scott Pilgrim. This book series appeals to every little facet my beta-male ego could possibly enjoy: comics, video games, kung-fu, sci-fi, music, and romance.

If you aren't up to speed on the series yet let me catch you up. The Scott Pilgrim series is the creation of Bryan Lee O'Malley about a young man who must overcome adversity for the heart of the woman he loves... not buying that? OK. Scott Pilgrim is a loser, a loser with a band, and he falls in love with a girl (Ramona Flowers) who, in order for him to date must defeat her seven evil ex's (much like a video game with 7 boss levels). Pulling from many an anime or manga story in both style and substance. Scott has many a few admirers himself, as he's dated just about every other girl in the saga. As the story (over 6 books) progresses Scott battles each Ex in order to continue to date Ramona Flowers.

I've been wanting to talk about this for a while but I kept waiting and waiting. "For what?" you ask. For the trailer to finally be released. Yes, Scott Pilgrim is now a major motion picture brought to you by the director of Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, Edgar Wright. And my desire to talk about SP has been harder and harder lately first with the Teaser poster

Then came the release of the cover to book 6

But I had to bide my time and wait... until today. Today marked the release of the Scott Pilgrim vs The World movie trailer! And all I can say is (after picking my jaw up off the ground) WOW! Edgar Wright is a genius and anyone who disagrees is a nihilistic, philistine, both color-blind and tone-deaf, and their mothers dress them funny!

I can't wait until July 20th for book 6 and can't wait until (Friday) August 13th for this movie to be released. My world looks to be getting a lot better by the end of summer!

It took me a while to get into this comic. I didn't really understand what I was reading.

Once I got it, I got it, though.

Michael Cera? Meh. I hate they went with him.

But I'm stoked on the movie.

i'm glad you got into it. I'm not sure about Michael Cera either but the trailer has ebbed some of the anxiety, he doesn't seem as milquetoast as usual.
